Nick Kyrgios spoke openly about his battle with asthma when pressed on his outburst about the smell of marijuana, which set the Australian off during his second-round US Open win.
A typically drama-packed Kyrgios match delivered a bizarre moment when the 27-year-old complained to the chair umpire during the second set about the smell of marijuana wafting through the arena.
Kyrgios made it clear to chair umpire Jaume Campistol that he was irritated by the smell, leading to the official asking those in attendance to "refrain" from smoking "as a courtesy to the players".

Kyrgios explained his frustration during his press conference after defeating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in four sets.
"People don't know I'm a heavy asthmatic, so when I'm running side to side and I'm struggling to breathe already it's probably not something you want to be breathing in between points," Kyrgios said.
The 23rd seed also touched on the difficulty posed by New York's extreme energy.
"The US Open — it's a very different vibe to everywhere else," Kyrgios said.
"I feel like Wimbledon was so proper and Australian Open ... you kind of expect it there being an Aussie.

"But here is just so noisy. Like, point in, point out, I can barely hear. Half the time I can't even hear my team because it's just so noisy all the time ... I couldn't hear anything. Just constant jitter and things going off, sirens, hearing trains. It's so hard to focus.
"I've struggled to focus in my career. I'm really trying hard to put my head down and play point by point and try to dig myself out of certain situations.
"It's hard because there's a lot of distractions. Obviously there's a lot of heckling going on, as well. People are saying things and I've got to be very careful with what I say these days."
Kyrgios will meet American wildcard J.J. Wolf in the third round, following a first-round win over great mate and doubles partner Thanasi Kokkinakis and his second-round victory over Bonzi.
The former world No.13 said in his press conference after beating Bonzi that he had never felt more pressure as he pursued glory in New York.
Kyrgios is hunting his maiden singles major title after qualifying for his first final at Wimbledon, in which he lost to Novak Djokovic.
