The bad blood between Baynes and Mayen continued as the two teams headed into the tunnel for the half-time break, with Baynes appearing to bump his opponent.
Both players were eventually ejected from the game to start the second half, which ended up in an 89-86 win for the Taipans.
"That's the elbow that put Aron Baynes into a place where it didn't look good," Basketball great Andrew Gaze said on commentary.
"He (Baynes) lost control of his emotions. He was upset with his own teammates trying to calm him down, he wasn't going to have anything of it."
Baynes joined the Bullets last year after a stellar nine-season career in the NBA which saw him win a title with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014.
