Club admits fault in star's 'disappointing' injury

//

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has confirmed Joey Manu's hamstring injury against the Sharks was a reoccurrence of the same blow he copped against the Tigers in round 26.

Manu missed the side's following fixture against the Rabbitohs but was then selected in the centres for the elimination final clash.

The Roosters star pulled up lame before going into contact in the 50th minute and attempted to play on but eventually departed two sets later.

Nine's Emma Lawrence confirmed post-game that Roosters medical staff said it is "highly unlikely" Manu will play in next week's elimination final against Melbourne.

Robinson admitted he wasn't 100 per cent going into the game.

"No (he wasn't) and obviously we got that wrong in the end," he said.

"He trained well, there were no ducks and drakes there he trained really well on Wednesday, no issue yesterday, and then wasn't good enough to finish the game so that's really disappointing."

Walker puts Roosters ahead

Manu wasn't the only injury concern to come out of the game with Sam Walker clutching at his knee having just come back following a sprained ACL.

Joseph Suaalii was also ruled out at half-time due to concussion.

For the Sharks, Tom Hazelton also left the field in the second half with an abdominal injury which required him to go to hospital.
