Tips: Big scalp picked as Tigers' resurgence gets real

//

Phil Gould has tipped the Wests Tigers to take another big scalp as the club's resurgence under Tim Sheens gathers momentum.

Having started the season with an awful losing streak that stretched to seven games and condemned them to months of negative press, the joint venture club has started to find its groove under the man who steered them to a premiership in 2005, winning three of their last four, including an upset of the Panthers and a 66-18 smash up against the Cowboys.

On Friday night their form will be tested against one of the hottest sides in the competition when they host the Raiders at Campbelltown.

Ricky Stuart's men have won six of their last seven games and have the significant benefit of having representative class players Jack Wighton and Josh Papali'i fresh and available after both retired from Origin this year.

While Gould acknowledged that was a bonus for the Raiders, he tipped the Tigers to continue their march up the ladder.

"Their last appearance they won by 60, didn't they?" Gould said on Wide World of Sports' Six Tackles with Gus podcast.

"They've got points in them and the Canberra Raiders can leak points. Even when the Canberra Raiders win they can leak points.

"They're a funny side. I know they've won six of their last seven but they are a side who can leak points ... Two weeks ago you'd have said that Canberra were probably certainties but I keep saying this Tigers team is on the improve and they get a game out at Campbelltown. I'm going to tip Tiger."
