NSW Blues great Andrew Johns has revealed Raiders star Hudson Young as one of the players who has most impressed him ahead of the State of Origin opener.

Young is slated to make his Origin debut on Wednesday in the No.12 jersey for Brad Fittler's side.

"I haven't (previously) had much to do with Hudson, he was brought up in Branxton which is about 10 minutes from Cessnock," Johns told Wide World of Sports' Immortal Behaviour.

"He's a tough rooster that boy, knows his game, really trains hard, prepares really well, very diligent in how he treats his body.
