Bathurst winner gets big break after grass pass

Jayden Ojeda's breakout Bathurst 6 Hour win headlined by his 'pass on the grass' has propelled the young gun into a plum GT drive.

The Sydneysider stormed through to win the production car-based endurance race at Mount Panorama alongside Simon Hodges in round two of the SpeedSeries.

That saw him beat experienced Supercars drivers Anton De Pasquale, Thomas Randle, and Will Davison in similar machinery.

Now, Ojeda is set to join the GT World Challenge Australia grid with Volante Rosso Motorsport in a Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 that Jayden Ojeda will race with Ross Poulakis.

Ojeda replaces Sam Brabham alongside Ross Poulakis from round two onwards. Brabham is set to return to the team with Chris Batzios from the third round at Phillip Island.

"What a great opportunity this is, really excited to be joining the team at Harrolds Volante Rosso Motorsport," said Ojeda. 

"It is terrific to be racing alongside Ross in the awesome Mercedes-AMG GT3. We're pretty much the Greek freaks with myself, Ross, Chris Papadopoulos (team principal) and Chris Batzios.

"There's a lot going on with our collective backgrounds, so we've all been in here wishing each other happy (orthodox Greek) Easter.

"I've not raced a GT3 car before or at Wanneroo, but we'll head there and see what we can do. 

"I've got all the tools around me, there is a great feeling around the team and we just want to bring it and get the Championship on track for Ross and chase it."

The moment Jayden Ojeda took the chequered flag after 112 laps at Mount Panorama.

It's expected 'The Juice' will inject an element of star power into the team, according to team principal Chris Papadopolous – whose background is in Formula 1 as an engineer.

"Jayden brings something particularly special to our team, he has a unique energy and just having him in our Sydney workshop with Ross and Chris (Batzios) gives us a huge momentum heading to Perth," said Papadopoulos. 

"We rate him very highly and we can't wait to see what he can do in our Harrolds Volante Rosso Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 - no pressure, it will be his first time in a GT3 car and first time at Wanneroo. We're incredibly happy to have Jayden on our team."

Jayden Ojeda will race a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in GT World Challenge Australia.

Ojeda isn't the only big-name act to join GT World Challenge Australia and the SpeedSeries.

Bathurst 1000 starter-turned-adult content creator Renee Gracie will pilot an Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the series.

GT World Challenge Australia continues at Wanneroo Raceway on April 28-30 before returning to the SpeedSeries calendar at Phillip Island on May 10-12.
