Fury tees off on '14-stone coward' as talks end

//

Tyson Fury levelled numerous insults at fellow heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk after negotiations for a proposed undisputed clash broke down.

The proposed bout at Wembley Stadium in late April fell through this week, after both sides could not strike a deal on terms for a rematch.

There has not been an undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 when Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield - and never been one in the four-belt era - and it appears it could stay that way.

After months of negotiations, which saw Usyk agree to a 70/30 purse split in Fury's favour, the British star's promoter, Frank Warren, said the fight won't take place and "does not think" it will happen in the future.

Usyk holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, while Fury, is the WBC titleholder.

They were given a deadline of April 1 by the WBA to officially agree to a deal, otherwise Usyk would be ordered to undertake a mandatory title defence.

Fury unleashed on Usyk in a social media post, labelling the Ukraine champ a "14-stone coward" among other things.

"Tried all week to get out of it, begging for a rematch," Fury said.

"You got your rematch and didn't want to fight at that. You were never man enough to tangle with the Gypsy King ever in your life.

"Keep running," Fury continued. "Fight Dubois at the Copper Box now."

Negotiations between unified heavyweight champion Usyk and Londoner Daniel Dubois will begin this weekend.

Dubois, the 25-year-old regular WBA heavyweight champion, said he "definitely, 100 per cent" wants a world-title shot next.

"Why not go for the big one now? I'm 100 per cent going for it and I believe I can knock him [Usyk] out," he told Pitch Boxing.

"I bring a lot to the table that he hasn't fought before.

"Just speed, belief, youth, and strength.

"He's never faced a fighter like me or been hit by a fighter like me. I think I can knock him out and bring them belts back [to England]."
