REBELS vs HURRICANES, Friday 8.10pm AEDT
The Rebels have turned to Olympian Joe Pincus to make his club debut at fullback in Friday's big Super Round test against the Hurricanes.
Pincus, 26, played for Australia in sevens at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 before switching to the XV man game.
He was contracted to the Rebels last year but did not play a Super Rugby game.
Pincus replaces Nick Jooste in the starting line-up, after the Rebels let a 17-3 lead slip in the season opening 34-27 loss to the Force in Perth.
Rebels prop Matt Gibbon - who this week re-signed through to 2025 - was relishing the challenge of tackling a Hurricanes outfit that blew the Reds away in the second half of a 47-13 win in Townsville.
"Their forwards are incredibly strong and we're really looking forward to this one. I don't think I've actually ever beaten the Hurricanes since I've been at the Rebels so I've got 50 caps this weekend and it would be lovely to get one up on those boys," Gibbon said.
"We definitely have some things to fix up on the weekend."
The Hurricanes have made three changes to their starting line-up, all in the forward pack.
Prop Tyrel Lomax replaces Owen Franks while flankers Du'Plessis Kirifi and Brayden Iose come in for Peter Lakai and Devan Flanders respectively.
REBELS (15-1): Joe Pincus, Lachie Anderson, Reece Hodge, Stacey Ili, Monty Ioane, Carter Gordon, Ryan Louwrens, Richard Hardwick, Brad Wilkin (c), Tuiana Taii Tualima, Trevor Hosea, Josh Canham, Sam Talakai, Alex Mafi, Matt Gibbon
Reserves: Jordan Uelese, Cameron Orr, Pone Fa'amausili, Angelo Smith, Josh Kemeny, James Tuttle, Lukas Ripley, Nick Jooste
HURRICANES (15-1): Josh Moorby, Julian Savea, Billy Proctor, Jordie Barrett, Salesi Rayasi, Aidan Morgan, Cameron Roigard, Ardie Savea (c), Du'Plessis Kirifi, Brayden Iose, Isaia Walker-Leawere, James Blackwell, Tyrel Lomax, Dane Coles, Xavier Numia
Reserves: Asafo Aumua, Tevita Mafileo, Owen Franks, Caleb Delany, Peter Lakai, Jamie Booth, Riley Higgins, Harry Godfrey
Referee: James Doleman
