Pucovski's stunning message to Test selectors

//

Will Pucovski has offered Australia's Test selectors a timely reminder of his immense potential after spending more than 11 hours at the crease in a stunning unbeaten knock.

Opening the batting for Victoria's second XI, Pucovski finished unbeaten on 193, combining with young gun Ashley Chandrasinghe for a 270-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Pucovski's marathon innings lasted 682 minutes, with the right-hander slamming 19 fours and one six in his dig before retiring.

The 24-year-old has not given up on his Test aspirations despite a series of concussions that have resulted in an interrupted start to his career.

Will Pucovski

Pucovski made his long-awaited Test debut against India in January 2021, scoring a half-century in his very first international innings.

A shoulder injury then ruled him out of the final Test of that series, before he was sidelined with concussions.

He made his return to the field in February this year, and scored two half-centuries in three Sheffield Shield matches.

Australia's Test summer gets underway on November 30 when it faces the West Indies in Perth for the first of two Tests before a three-Test series against South Africa.
