"I just got done visiting with Brian," Washington coach Ron Rivera said on Twitter.

"He is in good spirits and wanted me to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers & support.

"He wants his teammates to know he appreciates them all for reaching out and he loves them all & will be back soon doing what he does best."

Robinson was in the frame to lead Washington's rushing attack for this year, but football is obviously now secondary to his recovery.

He had 14 runs for 57 yards and one touchdown, as well as two receptions for 15 yards, in the team's first two pre-season games.
