Another twist in Djokovic declaration saga

//

The Novak Djokovic saga shows no signs of letting up - with the latest development suggesting the Serbian star travelled two weeks before his visit to Australia, even though he stated in his Australian Travel Declaration that he had not.

It's understood Djokovic travelled from Belgrade to Spain to train for the upcoming Grand Slam.

Concerning revelations also highlight Djokovic's movements after he was declared COVID-19 positive on December 16, with the world No.1 seen at several public events in the days following his positive test.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion attended the events in Belgrade on December 16, including a ceremony hosted by the Serbian National Postal Service and a panel discussion with his foundation.

The world No.1 wasted little time getting back to business after being legally cleared to remain in the country, posting a photo on social media showing him on court with coach Goran Ivanisevic and other members of his support staff after midnight.

Despite the legal ruling, the government can still overrule the Federal Court's decision.

In Serbia, his parents and brother met with reporters to tout victory via the judge's decision — which could have been premature, depending on what Australia's Immigration Minister eventually does.

The family was caught off guard during the press conference when Nine's Brett McLeod asked about the December 16 diagnosis and Djokovic's subsequent public appearances.

Djkokovic's brother, Djordje, abruptly responded: "This press conference is adjourned at the moment."
