Perry records nail-biting maiden ODI ton

//

Australian talisman Ellyse Perry has knocked an incredible 107 not out to record her maiden ODI century, boosting Australia to a total 7-247 against New Zealand in Adelaide.

The hosts found themselves in trouble early after stumbling for 2-50 by the 12th over with skipper Meg Lanning dismissed for three.

Perry had her work cut out for her when she was summoned to the crease and, settling in alongside Alyssa Healy, went about a stunning stint.

Upping the ante after Healy was dismissed for 46 Perry became the pillar of Australia’s batting efforts as she raced to 95 in the final over.

Having made it into the 90’s on for previous occasions Perry almost suffered another devastating collapse when she was dropped on the mid-on fence by Anna Paterson - the ball fortunately finding the boundary to bring up her maiden ODI ton.

Perry's classy knock featured eight fours and three sixes as she and Mooney rallied after the hosts slipped to 3-85 in the 23rd over.

Opener Rachael Haynes (15) and captain Meg Lanning (three) fell cheaply while Alyssa Healy made 46 after she was dropped twice.

Perry and Mooney steadied before the latter fell in a dramatic 42nd over by Kiwi legspinner Amelia Kerr.
