Dolphins poach former Origin star from local rivals

//

Wayne Bennett has signed another experienced forward as the Dolphins prepare for their NRL debut in 2023, with Jarrod Wallace agreeing to a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old has played 185 matches, firstly for Brisbane, and then for Gold Coast, where he's spent the last six season.

He's also appeared in six State of Origin matches for Queensland, and played in Brisbane's 2015 grand final loss to the Cowboys.

"Jarrod is a highly-experienced front rower who has had involvement in winning State of Origin teams and has also experienced the pressure of a grand final," said Dolphins boss Terry Reader.

Jarrod Wallace of the Titans looks dejected during their loss to North Queensland.

"We are really excited about the forward pack we have built so far, and Jarrod is just another key piece of that puzzle.

"He was also born in Queensland and has played for both the Broncos and Titans, so will understand just how big and important our local derbies against the other Queensland teams will be next year."

Off contract with the Titans at season's end, Wallace will join the likes of Mark Nicholls, Ray Stone and Melbourne trio Felise Kaufusi, Kenny and Jesse Bromwich at the Dolphins.
